Home >>> How to start selling on eBay
When I first started selling on Ebay I spent a lot of time looking at various item categories to see if there was a 'niche' I could get into. After 2 years I'm still looking.
Some 'niches' are great for a while then too many people start selling the same thing and prices drop. I think of myself as a general eBay trader - at the moment its clothes, but I'm moving into books shortly, later on it will be something else. I go where I think I will have the best chance of success. Other people have started in a particular area and fought off all competition to do quite well. They eventually set up their own free standing website and customers who bought off their ebay store, trusted them enough to buy from their website, as well.
If you want to do some more research my website offers valuable money making hints and tips and some free ebooks which you may find useful.
I would suggest that you start off by buying things on eBay ( preferably from people with a respectable feedback ratings), just to see how it is done.
I'd get a good digital camera and scanner and I'd start selling junk you don't want anymore. Start with a low starting price - say, $0.99 and see what you can get (this can be very exciting). Build up a positive feedback rating of say, 10 or 20, (and no negatives!) then you are ready to go......! Look at the auction ads of people who are doing well on eBay for inspiration and try and design your ads in a similar way - but never, ever copy!!!
If you really want to buy something I'd suggest buying the book "Starting and eBay Business for Dummies" by Marsha Collier...
I have a number of free eBay ebooks on my site from the USA for you to download. There is lots to read about ebay on my site as well, and although the site is for ebayers in the UK, there is very little difference between eBay UK and EBay in the US. So you should find some useful stuff there regardless of whether you are based in the US or the UK . To start selling on eBay, visit Snowy's Store. |
