Home >>> Accommodation address / mail forwarding service

Whether you are someone who works at home, or a business trying to expand into another area the idea, of having a local separate address is invaluable. People who travel a lot or who live abroad for part of the year will also find your service very attractive. For many individuals who are in business and who do not wish mail to be delivered to their home address the usual solution is to rent a Post Office Box from Royal Mail. However, businesses with a PO Box project the wrong image. A mail forwarding service uses a ‘proper’ mailing address and your role is to forward mail delivered to that address, on to the client.

You could rent cheap commercial property for this service, or use your home address. Customers will want your service as they would benefit from a prestigious address like Client Company’s Name, ABC Business Centre, 123 Any Street, Anytown, A12 B34. Customers could collect their mail personally or you could provide a mail forwarding service on a daily, monthly or quarterly basis. In addition, you could offer email or SMS text alerts notifying clients that mail has arrived, for customers who require this as part of the service.

This service is a great money maker once it gets going. Here is why. You will charge each customer an annual fee of between £100 and £200 depending on the prestige of the address. Agree to take payment quarterly or monthly, with one month’s notice required to terminate the service. Take the first and last instalment up front to cover defaulters. Then there are additional extras you can make a profit on. For example, mail forwarding (postage costs + £2.50 to cover handling), storage fee - (kicks in after a week at say £1.00 per day) and Emails and SMS text alerts (say, £1.00 each)

Charge extra for storing larger / bulky items and for receiving recorded delivery/ ‘signed for’ items. For a truly comprehensive service act as a ‘virtual answering service’. This involves answering business calls on behalf of the client and forwarding messages on to them. Consider charging in the region of £0.50 to £1.00 per call received. See what other companies in your area are charging, look under ‘accommodation address‘, or ‘mail forwarding’.
