Home >>> Chocolate bar wrappers for parties and promotions
Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best. Personalised chocolate bars are a great addition to any event - weddings, birthday parties and corporate business events. The potential size of the market is fantastic and this is your opportunity to get a slice of the action. With little more than a computer and a colour printer you can be creating fantastic wrappers in no time………….
There are two sides to this business - a creative aspect and a marketing aspect. Creating your wrappers - Using your computer you can create fantastic designs. Compose your design using Microsoft Word. You produce your wrapper to your clients specifications in appropriate colours/ designs and font styles. Include images from a royalty free clip art collection. (For example, a package of 115,000 images is available from Focus Essentials, www.focusmm.co.uk for £9.99. Also available offline from Books etc, and from www.amazon.co.uk) So, for example, if you are producing wrappers for a wedding, use words such as ‘congratulations’, the names of the bride and groom, wedding date and so on. Add clip art bells, flowers etc. Designs are only limited by your imagination although it is recommended that simple, bold, designs are best and the use of more than two different fonts styles on each wrapper is probably best avoided. If you have a computer scanner you can scan in a photograph, of say, the happy bride and groom, and include their picture on the wrapper.
The number of wrappers you can get on one sheet of A4 paper will depend on the size of the chocolate - larger size Dairy Milk works well and standard Kit Kats are also fine. Its worth doing a bit of experimentation here and you could include other confectionery such as Polos, Aero, Rolos and even Milky Way. Also experiment with different types of paper - photographic printer paper can also give good results. Print out your wrappers on your colour printer and cut them to the size required. Buy confectionery wholesale to get them at the lowest prices. Now, there is no need to unwrap the chocolate you buy, just enclose the chocolate in the new wrapper, sealing the wrapper with glue (use Pritt or similar stick glue for best effect). In terms of marketing this business you have loads of choices. For a start you can choose to sell the wrappers only, leaving the customer to do the wrapping. This is fine for small runs for, say, kids parties. However, you will probably be best offering to provide wrapped chocolate bars for clients as they are unlikely to want to buy and wrap larger orders themselves. This is where having family and friends who can help comes in handy. You can make good profits on the chocolate you buy wholesale, so its not all bad. Marketing your wrappers - Create a portfolio for yourself of 6 - 10 designs, consisting of examples of wrappers and some wrapped chocolate to show your prospective clients how their chocolate might look. Your portfolio should include wrappers for engagements, 21st and 18th birthday parties (male and female), weddings, graduations, kids birthday parties (boys and girls), and even births/ christenings - but make it clear you can cater for any event, including business/ corporate events. Sell your services over the internet, in newspapers and magazines or work with specialist shops such as party shops and wedding dress shops, offering them a commission on sales they make.
